Skiing in Iran, is that even possible? Yes it is! Probably not the first thing you think about travelling to Iran, but this country has various ski resorts, with beautiful slopes, good snow and a lot of snow! Besides that, it is also culturally very interesting. Here you will find trendy Iran, far away from it all. There are ski resorts in the Zagros mountains, easily accessible from Isfahan or Shiraz. The best ski resorts are located in the Alborz mountains in Tehran. The two most famous resorts are Shemshak and Dizin. Shemshak is closer and has the most difficult slopes, Dizin on the other hand is a nicer town and has the highest slopes. Take the cableway to 3600 metres and enjoy the magnificent view of Mount Damavand and ski down.

Do you prefer Snowboarding? No problem! You can rent snowboards and ski’s but there are also guides who can learn you off-piste skiing. If you are not that active a trip to Dizin is still a great option, because of the beautiful views of the snow-capped Alborz mountains! It is also a good place to visit during summer time. In this time the nature is different and the region is a beautiful place to walk.
