In the footsteps of nomads

One of the greatest experiences in Iran is to see the migration of the nomads. Especially the Bakhtiari and Qashqa'i travel long distances from their winter pastures along the Persian Gulf to the summer pastures in the Zagroz mountains in Fars province. In earlier, not so long ago days, this migration could take several weeks, with long lines of nomads with their tents and household on horses and donkeys, flanked by herds of sheep and goats.

Although you might be lucky to still see this migration old-style, most of the migration is done by pick-up cars and vans.
